I listen. I understand. And I get to work. That’s how I’ve lived my life—and it’s how I’ll serve you on the North Las Vegas City Council.

I’m Esmeralda Villeda, a proud first-generation American born and raised right here in North Las Vegas. I’m the daughter of immigrants—my dad is a stucco worker and my mom was an electrician. They taught me to prioritize family, do meaningful work, and show up to serve our community.

From delivering phone books door-to-door at age 12 to helping over 100 families become homeowners, I’ve spent my life rolling up my sleeves for North Las Vegas. I’m a real estate professional, a current Planning Commissioner, a nonprofit advocate, and a proud graduate of Rancho High School and CSN. Over the years I’ve worked with youth, local law firms, and yes—even dressed up as Wonder Woman at city events. Everything I do is about making North Las Vegas stronger, brighter, and better for all of us.

I’m running for City Council because I believe Ward 1 deserves a strong voice at the table. My campaign is focused on three priorities: intentional growth that doesn’t leave our neighborhoods behind, improving public safety in a way that reflects our community, and finally bringing long-overdue improvements—like parks, street repairs, and neighborhood clean ups—to every corner of Ward 1.

I’m your neighbor, a homeowner, a dog mom, and someone who knows firsthand the needs of our community—because I experience them too. My campaign is about lifting up the people and places that make North Las Vegas who we are and what we will become.

I’ll keep listening. I’ll keep understanding. And I’ll keep doing the work—just like I always have.

Reach out anytime on my personal cell at 702-703-9542.  I look forward to connecting with you during this campaign.

Thanks for stopping by!

Passing the Torch in Ward 1: Councilman Isaac Barron Endorses Esmeralda Villeda as His Successor

May 29, 20264 min read

There are moments in a campaign that transcend standard politics and touch the very soul of a community. For Ward 1, this is one of those moments.

Today, we are profoundly honored and humbled to share that North Las Vegas Councilman Isaac Barron has officially endorsed Esmeralda Villeda as his chosen successor to represent Ward 1 on the North Las Vegas City Council!

Councilman Barron has served our community with unmatched heart, dedication, and integrity since he was first elected in 2013. As his historic tenure on the City Council comes to a close, he has made his choice clear on who is ready to lead our neighborhoods forward:

"As my time serving on Council comes to an end, I am proud to endorse Esmeralda Villeda as my successor. She is a dedicated community leader who listens and understands the needs of our residents. I have no doubt she will continue to move North Las Vegas forward."

— Councilman Isaac Barron

A Shared Story: Humble Roots and Rancho High Pride

To truly understand why this endorsement is so meaningful, you have to look at the parallel journeys of Councilman Barron and Esmeralda Villeda.

Councilman Barron is a native of North Las Vegas who grew up in a humble immigrant family—the son of a kitchen worker and a maid. He went on to become an award-winning public school teacher, spending nearly 30 years mentoring students and teaching history at his beloved alma mater, Rancho High School. In 2013, he made history as the first Hispanic member of the North Las Vegas City Council.

Esmeralda's story follows that exact same blueprint of grit, family, and public service:

  • Like Councilman Barron, she is a proud first-generation American raised right here in North Las Vegas by immigrant parents—her dad is a stucco worker and her mom was an electrician.

  • Like Councilman Barron, she is a proud graduate of Rancho High School and the College of Southern Nevada (CSN).

  • Like Councilman Barron, she has spent her life rolling up her sleeves for this city—beginning at age 12 delivering phone books door-to-door, and progressing to her current roles as a Planning Commissioner and local nonprofit advocate.

"Councilman Barron has been an absolute blueprint of what public service should look like," Esmeralda said. "He proved that you can come from a working-class immigrant family, graduate from Rancho High, and go on to change our city for the better. Having his blessing and his trust to carry his legacy forward in Ward 1 is the honor of a lifetime. I will not let him, or our neighbors, down."

Moving North Las Vegas Forward: The Path Ahead

For over a decade, Councilman Barron has fought to stabilize city finances, champion youth programs, clean up our streets, and advocate for our neighborhoods.

By endorsing Esmeralda, he is certifying that she has the exact combination of empathy, professional skill, and community trust needed to build on that progress. As your next Councilwoman, Esmeralda will champion the core priorities that keep our community moving forward:

  1. Intentional Growth That Protects Neighbors: Managing the development of Ward 1 so that our historic, established neighborhoods are uplifted, preserved, and never left behind.

  2. Community-Reflective Public Safety: Strengthening and modernizing public safety efforts in a way that respects, reflects, and works hand-in-hand with our diverse families.

  3. Neighborhood Infrastructure and Cleanups: Bringing long-overdue improvements to every single corner of Ward 1—including street repairs, safe parks, and community cleanups.
